Why HCG?

Despite being prone to natural disasters, it is irony that Nepal and much of the Himalaya region lack an appropriate mechanism for hazard mapping, vulnerability assessment, and risk analysis. As a developing nation, Nepal largely depends on external development assistance and technical support from international communities and friendly nations, and it is inevitable that the country will need external resources to strengthen its capability to deal with natural disasters, such as by establishing early warning system as a key to disaster mitigation. Particularly, post-disaster reconstruction and rehabilitation works will have to suffer due to technical as well as financial constraints. In this scenario, HCG plans to work towards developing new approaches and new technologies to deal with the problems in the Himalaya region. It conducts workshops, seminars and training programs mainly on Himalaya conservation topics to accomplish its plans and objectives listed below.
